The Program

Tom Mullen offers Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

During the program several formal styles of meditation are introduced along with brief presentations followed by discussion. Each week there is a new theme introduced. MBSR is a compassionate program that teaches participants not only how to meditate, but also how to incorporate mindfulness into daily living to alleviate stress.

This is the original MBSR program founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the UMass Medical Center.

No meditation experience is necessary.

I have been practicing yoga and mindfulness for more than 15 years.

I have found that regular practice has helped me alleviate symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, feelings of unworthiness, and being overwhelmed. The skills I have learned make it less likely for me to be hooked by and reactive to unpleasant thoughts and feelings. I have found that I am less likely to be caught up in the hamster wheel of stress and if I am caught, I recover more quickly.

One of the most amazing and appreciated benefits I have experienced is the awe of noticing more joyful moments in life. Joys and pleasant experiences that were there all the time but were just being missed or passed over. The mindfulness practices I have learned have opened up a path to living a more wholesome life. A life where mind and heart are integrated. Because of these positive outcomes I developed a deep desire to share MBSR and its practices with others.
